OK, I’m kind of paranoiac about deployment these days… Several projects, clients and friends are hitting this spot.
I found a series of very well written posts by Chris O’Brien related to deployment:
- Creating lists with VSeWSS (Visual Studio extensions for Windows SharePoint Services)
- Creating list-based site columns as a feature
- Deploying content types as a feature
- Deploying Master Pages and Page Layouts as a feature. This is not as trivial as you may think as these files, when first created in Sharepoint Designer, are created as database objects. You have to export them before you can deal with deployment.
These posts will take you 30 min to 1 hour to read.
They will be well worth it!
